Lisette Bassett-Brody – Etched in Stone

Book Review:

  • – The Stones Cry Out

You could almost call it a paradox. We live in a world that is becoming increasingly secular, where the promise of immortality seems within our grasp, yet each year that goes by the 66 books we call the Bible are proven more accurate and prescient.

Adding to growing body of evidence that proves the Bible to a highly accurate account of past (& future) events is Lisette Bassett-Brody’s new book, Etched in Stone: Archeological Discoveries That Prove the Bible. This book was informative yet in a way that does overwhelm the reader with details only an expert in the field would appreciate.

The book is organized into four sections:
• Part I – People
• Part II – Places
• Part III – Things
• Part IV – Points of Interest

For each artifact in its related section the author provides a picture of the artifact followed by where it was found, when it was discovered, its geographical location, and the expedition which recovered it. Often a scriptural reference is also provided along with a brief contextual background story of the relevant Biblical and historical facts.

Whether you are a Biblical apologist or just an archeology enthusiast Etched in Stone provides a concise, contextual exploration of some this past century’s most exciting and important discoveries in the field Biblical archeology. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It only took a couple of hours to read but left me with a greater appreciation for the subject.

Most importantly to me though was that the book strengthened my faith in the veracity of Biblical record, a record which is really the story of our Creators redemptive love for mankind. That story of Yahweh’s Salvation (Yeshua) which nearly two thousand years ago reached its pivotal milestone when the living God of the Bible became human flesh and paid the price for all mankind’s sins.

In this increasingly secular age when many are not aware and others are too afraid to speak about the truth of the Bible’s message, it seems that the very stones of history are crying out to us. Lisette Bassett-Brody’s book – Etched in Stone has helped their voice be heard.

And when he [Yeshua] was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. (Luke 19:37-40)
