I love to read any book written about the prophecy of Daniel 9. Mr. Olin’s book was short and to the point. His main point (which I partly agree) was that the first 3 goals (of 6) of Daniel 9 must have been fulfilled in Yeshua at his death and resurrection at Calvary. To claim otherwise is to take the most important messianic prophecy in the Scripture and unhinge it from the very redemptive act the Messiah was sent to accomplish.
I really appreciated Mr. Olin’s insights into the “rule of antecedent” as it regards the “he” of Daniel 9:26-27. He appropriately points out that this supposed rule doesn’t always apply as in exemplified by Daniel 8:25 and Acts 3:16. I also appreciated the authors perspective on the 7 year tribulation as it relates to Daniel 9.
On a more critical note I must say there were several aspects of the book that I did not agree with. Of those the authors view on the last 3 goals of Daniel 9:24 seemed a little incongruent considering his view on the first 3 goals.
Overall I enjoyed the book and I appreciated Mr. Olin’s perspective.
